About Accountancy Ireland

Accountancy Ireland is the flagship publication of Chartered Accountants Ireland, distributed bi-monthly to 31,000 members on the island of Ireland and overseas. As such, it is Ireland’s most widely circulated business magazine.

Summary of the Role

Advertising and sponsorship sales and marketing in both print and digital media environments for Chartered Accountants Ireland periodicals (Accountancy Ireland, ezines, student and sponsored publications etc).

Role Expectations: 

  • Manage and maintain ongoing relationships with valued clients, liaising with and supporting advertisers as needed;
  • Build and maintain trust with both internal and external stakeholders;
  • Handle campaigns already underway and maintain high-quality delivery and consistent service;
  • Liaise with and support existing clients throughout the publishing process, from ad booking, through to copy, design and placement;
  • Oversee advertising production as the point of contact for print and digital copy and artwork (across print, online, and e-newsletter);
  • Manage the advertising process across print/digital, liaising with advertisers, editorial and design colleagues to produce both ads and commercial features to agreed standards, specifications and deadlines;
  • A strong understanding of Accountancy Ireland’s readership / Chartered Accountants Ireland membership, as this relates to commercial opportunities;
  • Ability to identify potential new clients, and new commercial opportunities for existing clients relevant to our readership;
  • Ability to generate sales reports as needed for the finance department; and understand and adhere to all relevant internal policies and procedures relating to this role.

The Candidate

  • The ideal candidate will be self-directed, proactive, and able to hit the ground running in this critical commercial role. They will have a deep understanding of the print/digital publishing ecosystem and proven ability to support clients at all stages in the advertising and production process.
  • Print and digital ad and sponsorship sales experience (ideally with B2B media) with good agency knowledge and contacts (Experience of recruitment advertising sales a key advantage).
  • Applied awareness and experience of digital marketing, including the use social media.
  • Marketing and promotions of publications or information services (e.g. books, subscriptions).
  • Strong key account management experience.
  • Client management, at manager to senior manager level, presenting to decision-makers, building client relationships, etc.
  • Experience and proven success in a sales target-driven environment
  • Devising and planning publishing marketing campaigns, particularly through direct marketing (including social media) in a B2B context
  • New business development:
    • Researching and developing new leads, both as one-to-one clients, and lists direct marketing
    • Using this information to manage a sales pipeline
    • Which will deliver new business, preferably on a repeat basis
    • Excellent IT (NB MS Office) skills including Access, Excel, Word, Outlook

  • Which will deliver new business, preferably on a repeat basis
  • Excellent IT (NB MS Office) skills including Access, Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Excellent skills in this area. Ability to effectively negotiate with others and uses appropriate and persuasive language to influence others.
  • Strong communication (in person and in writing) and networking skills
  • Ability to quickly understand the root of an issue and develop a practical and proactive solution for others.
  • Ability to gain ‘buy-in’ from others.

     

    Commercial Awareness

  • Ability to think strategically in order to develop new business and new ideas, and to work with director in anticipating and reacting to changes in media, publishing and the wider market
  • Competitive and goal-orientated; a good tactical thinker
  • Ability to work and consistently achieve budgeted sales targets
  • Excellent commercial awareness of advertising in B2B context, combined with driving revenue form subscription and copy sales. Able to provide a knowledgeable insight into a business issue and provides own view/advice on the issue.
  • Ability to capture and use knowledge about specific niche markets for ICAI publications (e.g. the accountancy student market) and develop strategy and promotions for these markets

  • Ability to organise and plan work in a logical and sequential way, delivering to deadlines.
  • Identifies problems in advance and develops effective solutions to resolve issues.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively ensuring that all elements of a job are complete.

  • Takes advantage of available resources to accomplish objectives, maintains focus on costs and budgets.
