Job Title:                    Commercial Manager

Responsible to:                General Manager

Job Location:                Foyle Food Group 

Key Purpose:

You will be responsible for the management of all aspects of the site Sales function within the strategy and general policies as instructed by the site General Manager.  It will be your responsibility to manage the Sales function efficiently and effectively, in order to assist in the achievement of the various objectives and goals of the department and site in line with legal and customer requirements as prescribed by the FFG Executive Board.

Duties and Responsibilities:

People Management

You will manage all key elements of the Sales function. This will include leading by example, promoting team effectiveness and giving clear direction and clarity of expectations to all team members.  Promote the development and learning of others through coaching and the provision of effective performance feedback.  Participate in and support training initiatives to develop individual and team capability to help drive the business forward.  Empower team members to contribute to their full potential through being supportive, fair, developing respectful working relationships and appreciating commitment. 

Communication

Communicate relevant information to the General Manager and Production Manager as they affect the organisation. Attend Site and Group meetings as and when necessary to ensure an effective flow of information relevant to the site and within the Group Sales function.   Express ideas in a way that can influence and build commitment, even when such ideas may be unfamiliar or unpopular whilst seeking to understand and listen to others.  Deliver both verbal and written communication clearly and concisely, in order to achieve the optimum impact on others.  Have the ability to network effectively with all levels of the organisation, including internal and external customers to achieve the best results.

Development

You will be responsible for the development of the Sales function and strategy at site level and provide input to Group strategy.  Establish new customer contacts and research new / alternative market opportunities.  You will seek to consistently meet or exceed agreed targets and goals and should be capable of analysing problems and overcoming obstacles in order to attain the desired result.   You will recognise and communicate opportunities quickly and decisively to the General Manager. 

Operational Standards

You will have the ability to understand the “Big picture” within the industry and the Foyle Food Group using this knowledge to translate ideas into proposed, workable solutions. Strive to exceed the needs of the internal and external customers by producing and developing quality products, services and information. You will trade products within the agreed FFG credit insurance protocol and you will be responsible for the full collection of your customer debts due to the FFG.

Result Responsibility

You will manage the site Sales function effectively and efficiently thought the use of KPI’s. Your objective will be to achieve and maintain “Green” status in all areas measured within your control, achieving and maintaining existing and future third party accreditations / relationships.  You will take an analytical approach to problems and see to identify problems and their underlying causes.

External Representation

You will represent the Company in a professional manner upholding the values of the FFG when liaising with, relevant stakeholders, customers, auditors, union representatives and any other external or statutory body.

Group Reporting

You will be required to furnish site reports, KPI’s & information to the Group function in a timely manner – weekly /  period and carry out investigations into RAGed red issues etc.   Group Managers are there to support and offer advice in all areas / aspects of the Management functions and monitor the overall performance of the Dept reporting to the Operational Board each Period.

Health & Safety

Be able to work in a safe manner and ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all staff and visitors on site. Ensure that staff under your control has been adequately trained to undertake operations in a safe manner following Group SOP’s.  Adhere to the Company’s Health & Safety policy.

General

Abide by all policies and procedures as laid down by the Company.
