R&D Software Developer (Wonga Labs)

The Role
We are seeking a Software Developer to join our Wonga Labs (Research & Development) team in a fast-paced cutting-edge development environment. Applying high standards of quality and adhering to strict software craftsmanship values, this developer will be passionate about software and technology. This is a permanent role based in our technology hub in Dublin.

Responsibilities will include:
• Transitioning Wonga Labs / R&D prototypes into the Wonga production environment
• Working with the business to understand and implement complex requirements
• Keeping a constant eye on changing industry ideas and practices, and monitoring emerging technologies
• Planning, estimating, and continuously improving code quality, system design and process
• Extending and maintaining existing and new software systems
• Working in an Agile environment with geographically distributed teams

The Candidate
• 5+ years’ experience in software development
• 1+ years experience in machine learning, computer vision or big data (e.g. Hadoop) essential
• Ability to work alone or as part of a team
• Strong communication skills/ability to interface with various people on different teams
• Quick learner with curious mind and interest in new technologies
• Strong background in enterprise software development in a distributed architecture
• Pro-active attitude, sense of ownership and precise analytical skills
• Able to work under pressure and be pragmatic, making intelligent design decisions
• Experienced in the full software development life cycle

Core Skills: C#, ASP MVC, Unit Testing, Messaging, SOA, TDD, Agile Methodologies

Complimentary Skills: SQL Server 2008+, Fluent NHibernate, NUnit, MbUnit, moq, SpecFlow, MSMQ, NServiceBus, Autofac, UML, Continuous Integration, Ruby, PowerShell, msbuild, git.
