Our client is currently seeking an experienced Assistant Maintenance Manager to join their Food Manufacturing plant in the south east
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* To work in close liaison with the Maintenance Manager to maximise efficient plant and machinery for maximum production levels.
* Work closely with any outside contractors to achieve high levels of workmanship and standard of finish at the best possible cost to the company.
* Draw up maintenance schedules and practices in co-operation with the group engineering manager, and implement throughout the plants, checking regularly on costings.
* Responsible for carrying out and/or allocating staff to carry out engineering work required inthe plant.
* Responsible for all Engineering staff and any equipment used by them in repair/maintenance
procedures with the responsibility that no waste material or tools are left behind in production areas.
* Responsible for appraising Engineering staff and providing training where necessary.
* Responsible for all staff timekeeping.
* Responsible for PA (Portable Appliance) Testing and Certification.
* Responsible for keeping Down Time in production areas to a minimum.
* Responsible for the completing of "Permits to Work" as required when staff have worked in
* production areas.
* Responsible for the completion of:
* Weekly safety checks
* Monthly maintenance checks
* Machinery log book
* Appropriate water/chemical tests in association with Food Safety Officer
* Responsible for organising the carrying out of Start-up and Shut-down procedures.
* Responsible for the completion of "Hot Work Permits" e.g. for welding jobs etc.
* To be able to communicate well with the Plant Manager as well as all colleagues in the plant.
* To be able to manage staff in an effective and disciplined manner whilst maintaining an
* understanding and easily approachable attitude.
* Responsible for personal hygiene whilst on the premises.
* To ensure that the staff comply with the Company Health & Safety policy.
* Ensuring that all maintenance work is carried out swiftly, efficiently and safely at all times.
* Responsibility for the purchase of all machinery spare parts.
* Responsible for training operatives to an appropriate level
* Responsible for personal hygiene whilst on the premises.
* To ensure that the staff comply with the Company Health & Safety policy.
* Other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Core Competencies:
* Degree Mechanical, Manufacturing, Engineering or trades.
* Extensive experience in a process industry (food desirable).
* Excellent communication and interpersonal Skills.
* Strong leadership skills.
* Ability to apply mechanical/engineering principles in practical application.
* Team leadership and development.
* Strong business knowledge and ability to interface with manufacturing and processing organisation.
* To be proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
* To have good attention to detail.
* A good problem solver
