As a Department Manager, you will be tasked with running the timber and ironmongery departments at the Cork Road Builder’s Merchants.
Taking charge of sales and purchasing, delivering margin targets and the departmental teams, you will maintain stock levels and build customer relationships to maximise opportunities.
You will ensure employees are fully trained, inducted and understand how to deal with customers and set the standard for customer service, ensuring all customers are dealt with in a professional, efficient manner.
Additionally, you will ensure your departments are ordered to maximise sales, tidy and stocked to optimum levels.

- At least two years’ experience managing a department in a builder's merchants or DIY retailer
- Sales experience selling a broad range of products
- The ability to manage and order stock
- A proven track record of achieving and exceeding both sales and margin targets
- A good level of IT literacy and the ability to handle analytical data
Commercially aware, customer focused and highly organised, as a Department Manager, you will also need effective team working and networking skills, excellent interpersonal abilities and a target driven approach. Strong negotiation skills will be vital, as will the flexibility and willingness to learn, the ability to think strategically and a positive attitude.
