GEM Plastics Limited based in Co. Cavan for almost 40 years, is a leading manufacturer of a wide range of industrial packaging products ranging from 1 Lt to 220 Lt for the pharmaceutical, chemical, food & beverage, and lubricant industries. Now a Schuetz GmbH & Co. KGaA, company - a global leader in the design, development, and manufacture of plastic industrial packaging products.  
 
Due to retirement and business growth, the company is seeking to appoint an experienced Sales Manager for the island of Ireland. Reporting to the Managing Director the individual will be responsible for managing the sales function in the company based in Cavan.

Main responsibilities include:
  • Meet or exceeding sales objectives.
  • Negotiate with prospective customers.
  • Help determine pricing schedules for quotes, promotions, and negotiations.
  • Contribute to the development of the business plan with sales forecasting and budgeting.
  • Work with finance to determine the profitability of products and new products.
  • Review and interpret weekly and monthly reports against forecast/budget.
  • Deliver sales presentations to a range of prospective customers.
  • Attend trade shows and promotion opportunities where appropriate.
  • Prepare and submit sales quotes for orders.
  • Develop and build professional business relationships with customers through regular face-to-face visits, virtual meetings, etc. to review sales and performance.
  • Visit customers and potential customers to evaluate needs or promote products and services.
  • Maintain customer records.
  • Manage and drive new business generation and growth on the island of Ireland. 
  • Engage with customers to identify their needs and resolve any issues they may have.
  • Maintain highest level of product knowledge and technical skills 
  • Prepare required sales reports for monthly, quarterly, and annual review.
  • Collect and share relevant data on market trends and analyse trends against key metrics.
  • Liaise with other key players in the business.  
  • Interface with other internal departments as required to ensure that customer opportunities are managed quickly and effectively through the sales process.


Essential Skills:
  • Ability to negotiate contracts logically and constructively. 
  • Able to  perform in a dynamic environment and work to deadlines.
  • Possess strong new business development skills.
  • Proven track record in driving new business growth.
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical and organisational skills.
  • Able to communicate on technical issues relating to the product.
  • Good customer relationship building skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative without supervision
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and act with integrity.
  • Understanding of sales performance metrics.
  • Hands-on experience with multiple sales techniques (including cold calls).
  • Strong work ethic with a positive outlook.
  • Work as part of the management team.
  • Willing to travel on a frequent basis and at short notice. Some overseas travel will be involved.
  • Excellent PC skills and proficient in using Microsoft Office i.e., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using a CRM system (e.g., NAV/SAP).
  • Thrive in a fast-paced sales environment, be proactive and results focused. 
  • Attention to detail. 
  • Ability to assess new market opportunities
 
Qualifications
  • Degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Development, or relevant field.
  • 4/5 years’ experience in a Sales environment.
  • Fluent spoken and written English. 
  • A full clean Irish driving license.
  • Good geographical knowledge of the island of Ireland.
