What is a biabox Urban Community Keeper?

A Keeper is someone who sets up a local food community where they live. They support local producers, boost local economies and earn an income doing something they believe in.

By becoming a Keeper you’re helping local producers to get the best deal possible for their produce, providing fresh food for your local community and making good money for yourself at the same time.

It is possible depending on your ambition to take on north of 500 customers, each receiving deliveries from us twice a week, for which you will receive a portion of the total weekly spend.

We make sure you have a basic income from the beginning by recruiting a critical mass of new customers in your area before you begin working with us. Your weekly earnings will steadily increase as more customers in your area begin using biabox.

How it works

Members modify their weekly produce order on the biabox.ie website.

Producers receive the orders, prepare the produce. We’ll take care of the collections and deliveries - so members can enjoy a full weekly grocery solution including locally made bread, confectionary, preserves, chutneys and sauces, meat, seafood, fruit, veg and cereals - all lovingly produced in the surrounding area.

Members get free doorstep delivery twice a week. This work is done by our biabox delivery trikers.

The role of the keeper

Inviting new members to join their biabox community.

Host community food events and tasting sessions - a great way to bring new members on board.

Much of the initial work will involve doing door to door sales to bring new members on board and to educate them on how the process works. The biabox team will help out with your first batch of new members. When your biabox community is set up most of the time will be spent engaging with existing members - helping them to enjoy great local food as we move through the growing season.

In order to maximize sustainability we prefer to work with people in the area they live in, so that driving / cycling to and from customer visits is minimized.

Your background

Ideally you will have experience and skills in the following areas:

        Door to door canvassing

A passion for good food, sustainability, and a willingness to learn about local food systems

        Excellent customer service skills

Ability to demonstrate how to cook basic food dishes is a bonus but not necessary.

        Good with software systems

Willingness to work evenings - this is the best time for meeting your customers

Outgoing, courageous, assertive, ambitious and self-starting

How biabox helps out

We’ve created a simple, fully automated website that takes care of all the ordering, payments & logistics - leaving you to enjoy the food, the people and your new income. We’ll provide the tools and guidance to help everyone grow the community. When you set up an urban biabox community, not only will you bring your community together, you’ll join a vibrant community of Keepers equally passionate about growing their own biabox community. We will hold regular on and offline meetups where everyone gets together to share ideas and inspiration. We will also provide full training on software, customer recruitment and support.

We are currently looking to build our teams in Limerick and Dublin. We would also be happy to hear from the right people in other locations too! To apply to join our team, email us via this website.
